Diesel Performance Chips - What are they and how do they work?

diesel performance chips have been developed for over a decade and counting. With the growing popularity of TDI (turbo direct injection) diesel engines in cars and trucks, demand for aftermarket tuning products has increased.

These products include, but are not electronic devices, I refer to as limited chip diesel performance. Companies like Bully Dog, Superchips, Edge, Diablo Sport and Hypertec, and other devices, such as manufacturingReplacement ECM (Electronic Control Module) boards, assemblies, installed in the wiring of the vehicle and also programmers and tuners plug.

The tuners or programmers are probably my favorite, with modules in second place. Tuners and programmers are pretty much the same, but different names depending on the manufacturer. I read it as a tuner for the rest of this article.

The great thing about a tuner is that it directly to the OBDII port is located generally below theCitation. The OBDII port is a universal interface, a code reader can be connected to the DTC (diagnostic trouble codes) read

If the tuner is connected to the OBDII port, on-screen instructions will guide you through the process of reprogramming the computer. Trust me, it is much easier than it looks. The entire process is automatic and requires only about two minutes from start to finish.

Almost all the newer tuners are DTC reader and allow you to control and eliminate theCode, if the check engine light always on. Much easier than doing it for a mechanic to understand why your light is on.

If an aftermarket tuner programming, is to copy your vehicle or you are done checking the DTC, simply drag the device and store it away. A vehicle can be returned back to the factory setting at any time.

The modules are connected directly to the vehicle wiring. Normally, all associated follow the instructions to find the right cap, mostis often under the hood. Just plug in, connect the module from which you connect the power plant. Very simple.

If you remove the vehicle back to the camp, the module and connect the harness is the way well before the installation of the module. That relate most manufacturers as a real "chip" is a spare circuit that requires the removal of the ECM and replace the circuit works with an aftermarket unit. I tend to call all of the previousDiesel Performance Chips.

Diesel performance chips so, usually work to reprogram the factory settings of the vehicle to activate the settings that the engine run more efficiently. Settings such as fuel flow, timing and transmission shift points are the three you mean.

The increased flow of fuel may actually help the car run more efficiently, unlike what you think. If more fuel is injected into the cylinder to accelerate, there isless turbo lag. Turbo lag is the time before the turbocharger builds up the pressure. Lag between when you hit the accelerator, and when the turbo spools and corrects the air-fuel ratio.

The longer the turbo lag, more time to completely burn the fuel for the engine. With the increase of fuel, the delay time is available, making the engine more efficient and better throttle response. Another advantage, more fuel is that, overall, during acceleration, moreBoost pressure will be achieved resulting in more complete combustion of fuel.

The time now is being re-programmed along with the fuel. At a higher speed, as the first period of time more for motor fuel consumption and make more efficient the engine.

Change the crossing points will also increase the efficiency of the heavier gear acceleration and the speed lower sealing light acceleration.

I hope this article is informative andanswers some questions about the differences between chips, modules, tuners and programmers. The site contains information on alternative fuels and other ways to increase fuel economy, but attention is Diesel performance chips.
